Saturday morning 47 kids ages 7-15 arrived at the JPC Youth for Christ Honduras Camp! The camp was clean and decorated, and all the staff and us as volunteers, were prepared with games, activities, crafts, teachings, and to have a whole lot of fun with the children!
It was a busy, yet amazing day. The students enjoyed actually being able to build relationships with the kids, as they were there longer as opposed to just a couple hours in the afternoon. It was so fun playing with them and interacting with them. They would laugh at our attempt to speak Spanish and would try to teach us words and would ask the English words for them as well. Although the language barrier was challenging in a lot of ways, it was incredible how we were still able to connect and learn about the kids.
There was a talent show Saturday evening and that was very entertaining! We saw everything from Spanish rapping, to dance offs, to boys showing off their muscles, to our very own Bree and Alex with their angelic voices.
We sent the kids off Sunday afternoon with sunglasses in hand along with various Canadian stickers and tattoos. They loved it! The weekend was truly an unforgettable experience.
