One of the parts of Central Alberta Youth Unlimited that I love is that each week of journeying with youth is different. Two weeks ago I got to meet a young man who was in need of housing, we will call him Liam*. During the first week we walked through the application process; interviews, reference checks, walk throughs of the house, introductions to the house parent, which is all part of the process to see if the YU-Turn housing program is a good fit for him. After much prayer and conversation with the housing team, it was deemed that Liam would be a good fit for the program. The second week was room cleaning, welcome baskets, moving in, school registration, phone calls and just getting to know Liam.
What I know about Liam so far is that he is funny, he is eager to work towards independence, nervous of change, willing to do the hard work and has layers of brokenness in the past. What I also know after hearing his story is that Jesus is chasing after this young man, chasing after him to walk with in Him in freedom. It is a privilege to be part of this young man’s journey and on behalf of the YU-Turn Housing team, please be praying for Liam and his journey in this program.
