Some people ask me how it is possible to maintain my own mental health when I consistently hear the difficult and heart-breaking stories of those that I counsel. My answer is always two-fold. One morning over the holiday break I heard the Lord say one simple word to me: "Dad"! I was a little shocked and even questioned what I had heard. Later that day I received a call from the care facility where my dad lives to tell me that there had been a couple of incidents with him. This fall we launched a weekly youth program called Life 360 at Timber Coffee Co. in Sylvan Lake. We have been so encouraged at the amount of young people receiving Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. We are up to 17 decisions to follow Christ from this program and the number keeps growing weekly! 9 of our youth got water baptized this December.

We all have a desire to see the world changed. Everywhere you turn you see brokenness and the impacts of a fallen world. People commonly say things like, “kids now days just have no respect” or “nobody takes the time to connect in person anymore.” This holiday season I challenge you to examine your heart and do two things.
