The start of this summer has not been easy. May long weekend I decided to do a large amount of yard work and it resulted in a bulging disc in my back. I don’t ever remember experiencing so much pain. After an MRI and medications, and a lot of physio, I am slowly healing. I was able to finally walk without a limp by the middle of July. June was spent in bed. It was a very difficult time for me and my family…talk about humbling and having to slow down. If you know me, slowing down is not my favourite thing to do. I did see the benefits of slowing down though. It’s important that we realize when to slow down and look after ourselves, or our bodies will do it for us. This is an intense calling and job, and I must take time to care for my body and mind.
As for Stepping Stones here in Lacombe, 3 babies were born in July and everyone is doing wonderful. I have a couple of young women that are dealing with domestic violence and their pasts are haunting them. The young mom, Shanti, that lost her son, Drevan, is having a very difficult time and my heart aches for her. Please pray for her. The girls have missed Stepping Stones so much and can’t wait to start again in September. I can’t wait either.
Please pray in the coming weeks that I can develop the program for 2018/19 to be exactly what these beautiful creatures and their wonderful babes need.
