Last night our students had a chance to play with some of the kids that are staying at the rescue mission. Wade, one of our students, was interviewed about his time.
Q: What’s your favorite memory from the trip so far?
A: Meeting Cameron
Q: Can you tell us a bit about what made it such a great memory?
A: To meet a kid that is in hard times right now and see how well he is doing with all that is happening around him.
Q: Tell us a bit about Cameron, his story and how it has impacted you.
A: He’s nice about everything, nothing brings him down. He mentioned that it was his first birthday in a stable home today, and that he had never had anyone but his mom sing happy birthday to him; yet given this he is still smiling, nice about everything, nothing seems to bring him down. He’s very shy, very cautious about who he’s around.
It has impacted me in a way that nothing should ever be able to get me down, and be able to always keep smiling like he does. And the respect that he has for everybody shows me how I should be respecting those around me not matter what’s going on.
