YU Adventures Mexico Mission Trip 2027
Late July 2027 [exact dates coming soon!] | Ensenada, Mexico | Grades 9-12 | $2,100
What is this?
Have you ever wondered what life looks like beyond your own community? This trip gives you the chance to see and better understand global poverty while partnering with a trusted local organization. It’s a week of serving others, learning from the people you meet, and asking what it means to follow Jesus and make a difference in the world.
What will the week look like?
Your team from Central Alberta will fly to San Diego and travel by bus across the border to Ensenada, a coastal city on the Baja California Peninsula. We’ll stay at the YWAM San Diego Baja Base, which regularly hosts youth teams and is a safe, supportive place for ministry and reflection.
Throughout the week, you’ll take part in:
- Hands on Service & Evangelism: This could include working with an orphanage, soup kitchen, rehab center, etc. We try to meet spiritual and physical needs, so there may be some light manual labor involved.
- Time with the community. Join a local church and a kids’ carnival, play soccer, and make crafts with kids in the neighbourhood.
- Cultural experiences. Spend a day exploring Ensenada’s culture and community.
- Small group debriefs. Talk through what you’re seeing, feeling, and learning with your group and leaders.
- Evening activities. Wrap up each day together at the base with worship, reflection, and fun.
What makes this trip different?
- A team that grows together. You’ll prepare with your team before the trip and debrief together during it, so you’ll come home with stronger relationships.
- Serving alongside local partners. You’ll work with people who know the community well and help guide you through what you see and experience.
- A healthy stretch. You may be pushed a bit outside your comfort zone in your faith and in your daily routines. That’s on purpose, and your team and leaders will be there with you.
Who is this for?
Any student in grades 9-12 who is ready to serve, learn, and be part of a team. You don’t need to be a Christian to join. Youth from all backgrounds are welcome, though faith is part of the experience through conversation, reflection, and the way we serve. You don’t need construction experience, just a good attitude and a willingness to jump in.
What does it cost?
The cost is $2,100, which covers flights, accommodation, meals, transportation, activities, and travel insurance.
Can’t cover the full cost? We’ve got options.
Fundraise. Many students raise part or all of their trip cost by reaching out to family, friends, and their church community. We’ll give you a sample fundraising letter, a pledge sheet, and an online donation form to make it easy, and we’ll check in with you along the way.
Apply for the YU Adventure Scholarship. If cost is a barrier, you can apply for scholarship support. Money should never be the reason a student misses out. If your application is accepted, we’ll send you a confirmation email with the scholarship application link.
What you’ll need
Because this trip crosses the border, you’ll need:
- A copy of your current passport
- A border consent form for minors
- A signed waiver and code of conduct
- A completed health information form
If you don’t have a passport or yours is expiring, start that process now. It can take time.
